Tour Director Highlights:
Mackinaw Island is a beautiful, enchanting place. It’s like stepping back in time to an era before cars. Your choice of transportation was horse drawn carriages, bicycles or walking. The smell of fudge draws you into the shops for a sample! We rode horse drawn carriages in the forest for a breathtaking view of Lake Huron below thru the arch. Some folks enjoyed bike rides around the island.
We visited an elk preserve at Thunder Bay Resort. It was mating season and the elk were bugling much to our delight. Climbing light houses provided us with great views of Lake Huron and perhaps some sore legs!!
Another stop we made was a Maple Syrup farm. We learned that the syrup is extracted from the trees not by the old bucket system. They now use a closed vacuum system to collect the syrup. Our host there was a wealth of knowledge about the process. Check out our BNT catalog for next years trips to Mackinaw and consider joining us!
