Day 1 *Travel west for Liberty State Park to visit the Intrepid Museum *Meet your guide and experience the world’s first space shuttle, a nuclear weapons-carrying submarine, dozens of military aircraft, a supersonic spy plane, and the world’s fastest commercial airliner displayed in and around the legendary aircraft carrier, Intrepid—an awe-inspiring place for an unforgettable adventure *Depart Pier 83 on your scenic 90-minute NYC cruise, down the mighty Hudson River, past Hudson Yards and Little Island, gliding by the towering One World Trade Center, past Ellis Island until you are just feet away from the Statue of Liberty *Experience breathtaking views of lower Manhattan before quietly slipping under the Brooklyn, Manhattan and Williamsburg bridges for a short journey up the East River *Ride to the top of The Empire State Building, to view, from the 102nd floor, the newly renovated exhibits on the 80th floor! *Enjoy dinner as a group in the city *Overnight in New Jersey (D)
Day 2 *Have a quick visit to St. Patrick’s Cathedral followed by Radio City Music Hall for a backstage tour *Learn about this historical famous music hall and meet a Rockette (pictures are permitted) *Lunch on your own in the Rockefeller Center area, filled with stores, restaurants and food court *Head to Long Island to visit your first mansion, Coe Hall This 409-acre site features an incredible landscape designed by the same firm responsible for creating Central Park: the Olmsted Brothers. *Explore over 20 gardens, stroll five miles of woodland trails, delight in the warmth of the two greenhouses, tour a 65-room Tudor Revival mansion *Enjoy a welcome reception at your Long Island hotel *Relax at the hotel firepit overlooking the marina *Dinner and overnight on Long Island (B, D)
Day 3 *Tour the South Fork, better known as the Hamptons *Travel through Southampton Village, the oldest English Settlement in New York State *Make a stop at Coopers Beach to enjoy the beauty of this famous playground of the wealthy residents *Drive to Montauk Lighthouse and Musem *Explore Sag Harbor, once the center of the whaling industry *Visit the Sag Harbor Whaling and Historical Museum, learning more about the destination’s fascinating whaling history *Get a sense of the culture of Sag Harbor through its collection of historical objects related to the village’s whaling history *Enjoy lunch on your own and stroll in Sag Harbor *Have a 90-minute Sag Harbor Boat Cruise, hearing about the historic whaling village of Sag Harbor with a little local folklore along the way Sites along the route include Barcelona Point, Cedar Point Lighthouse and the Mashomack Nature Preserve with occupied osprey nests on Shelter Island (B, D)
Day 4 *Tour the Vanderbilt Museum including a tour of Eagle’s Nest, the summer home of William K. Vanderbilt II, the great-grandson of Cornelius Vanderbilt. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Eagle’s Nest was built initially in 1910 as a small English cottage and grew into the sprawling 24-room Spanish-Revival mansion that is seen today. *Depart for Old Westbury Gardens and tour of the mansion, set on 160 pastoral acres and considered one the most beautiful English style country estates in North America *Opt for a general tour or A Secrets of the Service Wing tour *Have lunch as a group at the Cafe in the Woods on the property *Smell the roses or peonies and bask in the breathtaking allure of meticulously curated gardens (B, L)
