Day 1 

  • Travel to Newport, Rhode Island, the “Ocean State” for 4 nights at the Wyndham Newport Hotel.
  • Dinner included at the hotel (D)

Day 2 

  • Meet your local guide, “Mrs. Caroline Astor, The Grande Dame of Newport”, for a narrated ocean drive tour, viewing fabulous mansions and historic buildings of charming Newport.
  • Visit Marble House, summer “cottage” of the Vanderbilts in the early 19th
  • Lunch and free time on own in the historic downtown waterfront.
  • Depart on the Coastal Queen Harbor Cruise to experience the magnificent Newport Harbor and Bay with lighthouses, mansions and forts.
  • Dinner included at a local restaurant (B, D)

Day 3

  • Board the high-speed ferry to Block Island with its pristine beaches protected by lighthouses and spectacular bluffs for breathtaking views.
  • Take a sightseeing tour of the island.
  • Free time for lunch and exploring on your own.
  • Lobster bake dinner is included on the porch of the Historic National Hotel (B, D)

Day 4

  • Join your local guide for an easy walk on the Cliff Walk enjoying the stunning coastline with its architectural history of the Gilded Age.
  • Depart for Breakers Mansion for a self-guided tour of the grandest of Newport’s summer “cottages” of the Vanderbilts.
  • Visit Rosecliff Mansion for a self-guided tour of this exquisite house where several Hollywood movies have been filmed.
  • Stroll through the Green Animal Topiary Garden in Portsmouth overlooking Narragansett Bay. (B, L)

Day 5

  • Stop in Mystic Seaport Village for lunch on own.
  • Travel home with stops along the way. (B, D)
