Day 1 *Transfer to the airport for our flight to Lyon, France
Day 2 *Arrive in Lyon, at the junction of the Rhone and Saone rivers *Meet your Mayflower Tour Director and transfer to the Emerald Liberte *Enjoy dinner onboard (D)
Day 3 *See Chalon-Sur-Saone, best known as the birthplace of photography *Travel by road to the quaint village of Beaune, visiting the Hospices de Beaune, one of the finest examples of French 15th-century architecture with its multi-colored roofs, one of the symbols of Burgundy (B, L, D)
Day 4 *Take a guided tour of Lyon, France’s third largest city, driving to the Basilique Notre Dame de Fourviere, Lyon’s hilltop church, seeing stunning views over the town *Pass by the recently re-discovered Roman amphitheater and walk through the cobbled streets of the old town (B, L, D)
Day 5 *Walk through Tournon, dominated by the 16th-century castle and Roman ruins and nestled near the steep slopes of le Massif Central, France’s third largest mountain range, making a perfect picture capture (B, L, D)
Day 6 *Arrive in Viviers, a town with a lot of flare and also the home of one of France’s oldest cathedrals *Join an included city tour exploring all the architectural heritage of this quaint town (B, L, D)
Day 7 *Walk through Avignon, with Celtic beginnings and preserved ramparts, historic center and churches It is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and well known for the imposing Palace of the Popes *Stroll the cobbled lanes, overlooking the famous ‘Pont d’Avignon” (B, L, D)
Day 8 *Browse the streets of Arles, medieval in character, with the local guide, and discover why the colorful houses were an inspiration to Vincent Van Gogh and other famous artists *See the 2,000-year-old Roman Amphitheater which is still in use today (B, L, D)
Day 9 *Say farewell to the captain and crew as your river cruise comes to an end *Begin your land adventure by coach to Nice on the famed Cote d’Azur *Take an orientation walk, seeing the old town with its cafes, historic buildings, picturesque harbor and the infamous sea-front promenade (B, D)
Day 10 *Have a morning at leisure *Depart by coach for the principality of Monaco and visit Monte Carlo on the French Riviera Home to the Grand Prix, location of numerous movies and playground of the rich and famous–you’re sure to recognize its beautiful setting and famed casino. *Explore, on your own, and return to Nice for the evening (B)
