Day 1 *Head east out of PA and travel northeast to the southernmost lighthouse in Maine, the Nubble Light in Cape Neddick. *Don your souvenir Maine moose hat as we continue to our lobster bake dinner in York, ME *Continue north to South Portland for your overnight stay (D)
Day 2 *Travel to Cape Elizabeth for a photo stop at Portland’s most photographed beacon, the Portland Head Lighthouse *Head inland to visit Pineland Farms, a privately-owned working farm in the rolling hills of New Gloucester. You will take a guided riding tour of the complex with stops at a unique dairy, Morgan Horse barn and equestrian center and view other highlights from your coach *Have lunch on your own in the Pineland Cafe before heading to the mountains and a stop at Maine Balsam Fir Products, a small company that hand makes their balsam-filled pillows and products *Drive to Bethel, one of western Maine’s pretty tree-lined villages in the western mountains *Check into the Jordan Grand Hotel at Sunday River Resort *Board the coach for a two-hour guided Moosin’ Tour Dusk is the best time to spot one of Maine’s gentle giants. *Return to the hotel for a “smores” around the campfire on the hotel patio (B, D)
Day 3 *Travel to Bethel, stopping along the way for photos at the picturesque Artist’s Covered Bridge *Roll up your sleeves for a hands-on-sluicing program *Lunch on your own in the Sunday River Brewing Company before departing for Bar Harbor, ME, the gateway to Acadia National Park and our home for the next two nights *Enjoy an included Maine lobster dinner (B, D)
Day 4 *Venture out into Frenchman’s Bay this morning to see the most sought-after iconic symbols of Maine on a Bar Harbor Puffins and Lighthouses Cruise *Have an included box lunch in Bar Harbor, enjoying the beauty of the waterfront park *Take a guided tour of Acadia National Park, seeing tremendous coastline views including the stunning Loop Road and the summit of Cadillac Mountain *Dine early in the area and then be treated to unique Maine entertainment at the Great Maine Lumberjack Show *See “the Olympics of the Forest” re-enacted as the lumberjacks and loggers used to compete 100 years ago *Return to our hotel in Bar Harbor (B, L, D)
Day 5 *Travel to Penobscot Narrows Bridge Observatory and ride the elevator to the top of the observatory—one of only three such bridge observatories in the world *Continue south to the village of Camden, known for its fleet of windjammers, then onto Rockland, the Lobster Capital *Lunch on your own in downtown Rockland with many great restaurants, shops and art galleries *Depart for Damariscotta, the oyster capital of New England *Board a tour boat for a private aquaculture outing on an oyster farm and seal watching cruise An oyster shucking class is included on board *Dine on your own in Freeport, home to the LL Bean flagship store and a variety of outlet shops *Overnight in South Portland (B)
Day 6 *Head homeward with many memories of a delightful vacation in Maine, making appropriate stops along the way (B, L)
