Tour Director Highlights: With everyone itching for a change in season, God abundantly blessed us with a hiatus from the cold weather as we enjoyed two full days of sunshine and 70-degree weather! Our first stop was in the quaint and historic town of Frederick, MD—a town full of unique stores and eateries, gorgeous architecture, and a plethora of Civil War history. As we meandered through the streets, it was fun to spot the clustered church spires that dot the cityscape. Afterwards, we made our way to the beautiful Oatlands Historic House & Gardens where we enjoyed a mansion tour, wreath-making workshop, and a delicious catered dinner under the tent. One of the highlights for me was walking through the gardens. It took me back to the story of the Secret Garden, as it was filled with gorgeous landscape designs, statues, architectural finds, and signs of Spring. What a refreshing day to be outside enjoying God’s creation! After heading to our hotel for the evening, some of us discovered a nearby milkshake shop that made gigantic milkshakes topped with your choice of dessert – cake, doughnuts…you name it! No one opted to indulge, but we definitely enjoyed watching others! Saturday we enjoyed another gorgeous day outside as we explored the Leesburg Flower & Garden Festival. A personal highlight of mine was sitting in the courtyard listening to the local music while watching several little girls dance their hearts away. As a first-time Tour Director, this was certainly a great introduction! I thoroughly enjoyed the group of travelers and was reminded in the power of story (past and present) – and the unique stories that we all bring to the table.
