Years as a Tour Director:

I worked 7 years, had kids, and then returned for another 19 years.

How did you get into Tour Directing?

Growing up in Africa, I always enjoyed traveling. So, when my friend invited me to take a tour with her, I took the opportunity. I enjoyed it very much and thought it would be fun to work as a Tour Director.

Top 3 Favorite tours you’ve directed?

Rocky Mountain

Polar Bear Explorer in Canada

Rhine River Cruise

What’s the hardest thing about being a Tour Director?

Trying to meet the needs of various tour members on each tour and keeping everyone happy!

What’s the best thing about this job?

Getting to know the tour members as we enjoy the many interesting sights and places together.

What do you think makes you unique as a Tour Director?

I grew up in a different culture in an African country and speak two other languages besides English. Because of these experiences, I bring a unique perspective to my job as a Tour Director.

Is there some skill or experience you bring from a previous job or earlier time in your life to your

work?

Growing up in Africa has given me a sense of adventure and a desire to learn more. And, being a Tour Director is always a learning experience.

Funniest memory?

In the early years of traveling, our group needed to stop for lunch, but there were no fast foods nearby. So, we stopped at a restaurant in a small town. Unfortunately, there was only one employee in the restaurant, so I worked as a server and took our food orders, as well as delivered the food. My driver helped with serving beverages. After that, we went on our merry way!

How does your faith play a part at BNT?

I enjoy sharing the daily devotionals with the tour members as a way to encourage them.

What top three tips would you give your travelers to get the best experience out of the tour?

To relax and go with the flow…enjoy the experience of whatever it is you are doing and make new friends as you travel together.

Suggestions on shoes and luggage?

Wear comfortable shoes and do not over pack!

What have you learned as a Tour Director?

Always look for the positive in every situation and trust in the Lord.

If you weren’t a Tour Director, what would you have done?

If I wasn’t a Tour Director, I would have chosen to be a flight attendant. I enjoy traveling and seeing different places.

Your favorite Bible verse?

Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

What is the one place you return to again and again, and will in the future?

I enjoy the different islands of Hawaii. I never tire of seeing its beauty both on land and in the water. The warmer weather is a plus!
