Tour Name: Wyoming & Yellowstone National Park

Tour Date: July 19 – 28, 2023

Tour Director: Yang Bontrager

Tour Director Highlights:  This tour began with an early morning flight to Rapid City, SD, where we spent time visiting Bear Country.  Following a good night’s rest, we trekked through Custer State Park in search of bison. Unfortunately, we saw them from a distance since the vegetation was better up in the hills. Then it was off to the Badlands National Park and its stark beauty; Mt Rushmore National Memorial with its tribute to four of our presidents; and Crazy Horse Memorial where we saw the ongoing work of the statue being built. Cheyenne Frontier Days was a fun day watching various activities including bronco riding, calf roping, and barrel racing. The Grand Tetons were awesome as we viewed its majesty and enjoyed some of its wildlife. Then it was off to Yellowstone National Park, the first national park created, to view the most famous geyser in America – Old Faithful! There is much beauty to be seen at Yellowstone including the West Thumb Geyser Basin; Gibbon Falls dropping approximately 84 feet; Beryl Spring which is a hot spring and boils up to 4 feet; Mammoth Hot Springs with its limestone terraces; and not forgetting the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone which runs 20 miles long and more than 1,000 feet deep. And when you think of the Wild West, Buffalo Bill comes to mind, so it was fitting to end the tour with a visit to the Buffalo Bill Center of the West.

Much was packed into these 10 days and many unforgettable memories were made!
