Tour Director Highlights:
We had an early start to the day and arrived in time to board the Café Lafayette Dinner Train for a relaxing train ride and a sumptuous 5-course dinner. After a good night’s rest at our beautiful hotel, we met our guide and headed off to the Cog Railway, the first mountain-climbing cog railway in the world, which took us to the summit of Mt Washington. Next, was a visit to Fadden’s General Store, before dinner at the Woodstock Inn. The Kancamagus Highway offered some beautiful scenery as we traveled to the Conway Scenic Railroad for a historic ride on tracks that were laid in the 1870’s. It was awesome to take a short hike to see The Basin, a natural granite abyss in Franconia Notch State Park before bedtime. Our fourth train ride was the Fall Foliage Special Train taking us north from Meredith NH along the Pemigewasset River and our fifth train ride on this tour was the Winnipesaukee Turkey Train which took us southbound from Meredith NH, while enjoying a delicious turkey meal with all its trimmings. With full tummies, we headed homeward!
